Visit to Dermatology Clinic
Almost two months from last post :|. I visited dermatology clinic, got hit to the face with laser, photographed in Desucon AND Yukicon.. More has happened again than I have realised.
I visited dermatology clinic three weeks ago, which was actually very short visit. I met with senior doctor there, who just asked that I'm sure and told about procedure. They don't have laser there, so she just told me where to call and go and wrote payment commitment. So the beard removal will be free for me even while it happens in private sector. The place I went is called Epilaser, they have specialized to do things with laser which involves hair and/or skin.
I had first treatment almost two weeks ago on wednesday. And getting hit to the face with laser is quite accurate way to say it. 20 joules of alexandrite laser per blast and there was several dozens of them. Hurted quite a much in some places, mostly in the ends of upper lip and in the center of jaw (there was so much hair..). But for some reason ends of jaw and lower lip didn't hurt nearly as much. Those hurted about as much as epilating legs for third time when your skin is gotten used to it already. And those hurtful places hurted like 1.5x what epilating pubic hair hurts for the first time. Although the pain went away faster so it was easier to bear. And I have high pain threshold! But worst thing was the smell of burning hair. It took like 2 days to go away. It did eventually but it was horrible. And just under my nose, literally! Next treatment is in a month, middle of march, and I might be able to get one or two more before summer. Those treatments cannot be done if you have tan, as the power from laser will be absorbed by skin and the treatment will be less effective. But, the nurse said that I should have quite good results even from this first treatment as my hair is very dark and skin is somewhat pale. We will see soon enough.
There was also Desucon Frostbite in the end of january. Our photography service went there again. This time around I knew we had "labor-shirts" (tyΓΆvoimapaita in finnish), so I wore corset under it. I did wear makeup though, quite subtle amount of it, especially on sunday, but even smoothening the skin does wonders, like I have said before. Perks of having androgynous face. The event itself was somewhat peaceful, there was constant flow of people coming to photograph themselves, but never really so much that there was throng. Or at least on my shifts. I haven't been working in Desucon for ages, so it was nice to get to know bit more, who are in the scene nowadays. Lot's of new faces.
There was also AMV competition there and it had viewers favourite voting. Which was done with same system as couple of times before. This time I did little bit of mistake to the configuration and numbers 2-9 were impossible to vote. Fortunately the video with most entertainment value was with number 22 and it won with quite a margin so not too much drama there. I also learned the hard way that every option needs to be checked and tested that it works. But I was on stage again announcing the winner.
Last weekend was Yukicon. Same drill with photography service and AMV competition. Although this time I did wear same clothes I did in Kumakumacon and Tracon, so it was much flashier as corset was visible. But it was good call, the convention center was very hot place. There was also two different AMV viewer voting. On saturday was AMV show, which had all the videos which didn't make it to the finals, with the permission of the editors so not all, but most. As Yukicon is profiled themselves as beginner-friendly place for AMVs, there is more chances to get your video to shine. And damn even the shows level was high, I was thinking that if there is this good videos in show, what there is in finals? And, well, on sunday, the finals had even higher level. I'd say that way higher than in the last three competition. People really put effort in it this time. And voting worked flawlessly both times and I was announcing both winners this time as well. Even the guest of honor of Yukicon, who is famous AMV editor, praised the voting system :3
I have noticed that my general feeling has went up quite a much as well. My initiative has gotten way better and I don't get tired so easily. I'm sleeping better as well. My migraine is bit annoying but it doesn't block working which is nice. Only fucks up my sleeping when it hits -_-'. Let's see what happens to it in a month (or so) when I finally get hormones. Waiting that quite eagerly already.
